BES Founding Director Steward Pickett recognized with Frontiers Award

Cary Institute Distinguished Senior Scientist and BES Founding Director Steward T.A. Pickett with ecologists Lenore Fahrig and Simon Levin have been selected as recipients of the 14th BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Ecology and Conservation Biology. According to the citation, the ecologists were awarded for their work “incorporating the spatial dimension into ecosystem research, in the sense of landscape and its multiple scales, and bringing it to bear in the management of “coupled human-natural systems”.
